Ford Focus Boot lid opening when braking
We encountered this problem at Farnham and it took a bit of investigation to find the problem. Basically there is a multi plug connector in the boot on the nearside rear of the car behind the rear quarter carpet. Moisture /condensation gathers in the boot, and runs down the wires causing it to short when the brake pedal is pushed releasing the boot latch.
After two attempts to rectify this, one with contact cleaner and relocation, the second with further relocation and silicone around the rear of the multiplug, we removed the plug and hard wired the loom. This rectified the problem and that was about 2 years ago, and the customer has not reported on this fault reoccurring.
